Generation Next
|
Gen Next is a Junior Youth Group for 5th and 6th Graders.
We meet on Sunday Mornings at 9:45 a.m. and Wednesday Evenings at 7:00 p.m.
Our Goal
Generation Next was created to help our 5th and 6th graders adjust to the Youth Group environment. The teachers are committed to helping pre-teens grow spiritually and develop the skills needed to be active participants in their youth group.
Our Leaders
The Deacon for Generation Next is Mike Wilson and the coordinator is Cindy Wilson. Our teachers include Dorian Lain, Larry Varnum, Smitty Smith and Jenny Burlingame.
Fellowship
It is important that the children grow together through fellowship. We try to coordinate outside activities throughout the year. We ask that each family choose one month and host an activity. The children love to get together to skate, swim, go to movies, etc.
Service
Service work is very important to Generation Next. One year, we visited the Ronald McDonald House where we cleaned and organized the kitchen. One summer, the 6th graders were invited to join the 7th graders on a Mission Trip to Cullman, AL. Service work involved painting, cleaning and gardening at Child Haven, a facility for children.
Generation Next members also serve in our church. We help with games at our Fall Festival and Spring Fling. We are servers at the Annual Teacher Appreciation Dinner. We help with the Children’s Christmas Program each year. We are workers at VBS each summer.
Generation Next sponsors a child from Africa through Compassion International. His name is Feyisa. Our support has helped Feyisa attend school. We ask that your child perform an extra chore at home to earn their monthly donation.
